The Detroit Red Wings didn't waste much time getting their top pick in this year's draft signed.
The club announced Saturday that right wing Filip Zadina has inked a three-year entry-level deal.
The Red Wings selected Zadina sixth overall. He will have a good opportunity to earn a roster spot in training camp and the preseason.
It remains to be seen where he'll play in 2018-19 if he doesn't make the NHL roster. He'll either return to his junior club, Halifax of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, or be assigned to the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins.
