The Detroit Red Wings have signed left wing David Pope to a two-year entry-level contract.
The 6-foot-3, 194-pound forward is expected to compete for a roster spot in training camp.
Pope, 23, has spent the last four seasons at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he tallied 45 goals, 49 assists and 41 penalty minutes in 133 games. He led the team in goals (20) points (41), power-play goals (12) and shots on goal (123) while tying for the lead in assists (21) as a senior.
The Red Wings selected Pope in the fourth round of the 2013 draft (109th overall).
