The Detroit Red Wings have signed defenseman Jared McIsaac to a three-year entry-level contract.

McIsaac, 18, was the club's fourth selection (36th overall in the second round) in this year's draft out of Halifax in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he was a teammate with Detroit's first pick, Filip Zadina.

McIsaac missed the main training camp due to a shoulder injury suffered in the Prospects Tournament. He was returned to the junior club shortly after.

McIsaac (6-1, 193) led Halifax defensemen and finished seventh overall on the team with 47 points (nine goals, 38 assists) in 65 games, which also tied for 10th among all QMJHL defensemen.
