Today the Red Wings recalled defenseman Dylan McIlrath from the Grand Rapids Griffins. The team is in desperate need of some capable defending and the former first-round pick has played well with his time with the Griffins since being acquired in the trade that sent Thomas Vanek to Florida.
The Griffins are also suffering from an overabundance of veterans since Jonathan Ericsson joined the team, being subject to a cap on the amount of veterans they are allowed to play, this should help ease that jam a bit while providing a different kind of jam at the Red Wings’ net-front.
