Red WIngs recall defenseman Brian Lashoff from Grand Rapids

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings have recalled Brian Lashoff from the Grand Rapids Griffins to give them depth on defense.

This is Lashoff's second stint with the Red Wings this season. He played five games for them in December, getting no points while compiling a minus-3 rating.

The Red Wings had been playing with six defensemen.

Assistant general manager Ryan Martin said Lashoff will be available tonight in Arizona if someone else is unable to play.

It's possible the Red Wings could rest Niklas Kronwall in the second leg of back-to-back games. The Red Wings are coming off a 3-1 loss Wednesday night in Colorado and Kronwall has been dealing with a knee issue all season.
