A half-dozen Detroit Red Wings prospects are about to showcase their skills against the best in their age group.
General manager Ken Holland plans to be in Calgary, Alberta and Lake Placid, N.Y. over the coming week to scout national junior team evaluation camps for USA, Russia, Sweden and Finland. The Wings have six players scattered across those teams, with forwards Dylan Larkin and Dominic Turgeon on the U.S. squad, forward Evgeny Svechnikov representing Russia, forwards Axel Holmstrom and Christoffer Ehn among the Swedes and forward Vili Saarijarvi with the Finns.
Svechnikov was the Wings' first-round pick, 19th overall, from this summer's draft, while Saarijarvi was taken 73rd overall.
