The Ontario Hockey League final pits a pair of Detroit Red Wings prospects in Hamilton goaltender Kaden Fulcher and Sault Ste. Marie defenseman Jordan Sambrook.
The best-of-seven series begins Thursday. The winner advances to the Memorial Cup May 18-27 in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Fulcher is 12-3 in the playoffs, with a league-leading 2.35 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.
The Red Wings signed Fulcher, an undrafted free agent, following a training camp tryout last year. That's what he was seeking, but it still came as a surprise.
"You don't really expect much," Fulcher said.
