PLYMOUTH, Mich — The Red Wings will be well-represented in this years World Junior Camp.
Forward Givani Smith and defenseman Dennis Cholowski, both picks in the 2016 NHL Draft, have been invited to Hockey Canada’s World Junior Camp, according to Hockey Canada.
Cholowski, 19, was selected by the Red Wings in the 2016 NHL Draft after trading with the Arizona Coyotes for Pavel Datsyuk’s contract. Cholowski posted 12 points (1-11-12) in his freshman year with St. Cloud State. The Wings drafted him at 20th overall.
Some thoughts on Cholowski via Future Considerations:
He consistently breaks up plays with great stick positioning and makes it dif cult for players to generate offense by constantly pestering puck carriers.
