The Detroit Red Wings are currently sitting on a 13 game point streak and, if it is extended tonight against the Buffalo Sabres, it will be the first time since 2006 that the Wings have had a 14 point streak.
The season actually did not start as well as the Wings current progress would have indicated- earlier in the season they were struggling to find the back of the net and had been pushed to overtime too often. The Wings had also had serious problems capitalising on powerplay opportunities, at one point falling as low as 24th on the NHL ladder on powerplay rankings.
