DETROIT -- The Red Wings have placed veteran forward Daniel Cleary on waivers. Teams have until noon tomorrow to claim him (haha)

With the season about to start for the Red Wings, and a handful of injuries at bay, the Red Wings needed to make room for Jakub Kindl to come off of IR without going into a back-to-back with only six defensemen. My guess is that the choice essentially came down to Joakim Andersson, or Dan Cleary.
