NEWARK, N.J. – The 20-game mark, it is often said, usually provides an accurate indication of where a team will finish– even with three-quarters of the schedule remaining.
The Detroit Red Wings realize they need to be an exception to this "rule."
The Red Wings (9-10-1) have 19 points after 20 games, their lowest total this deep into a season since 1990-91, when they also had 19 points after 20 games. That was the season their playoff streak began. They have a lot of ground to cover to prevent that streak from being snapped at 25 seasons.
