Red Wings must keep vet Zetterberg fresh

Deep into the NHL off-season, Helene St. James takes a look at individual Red Wings and assesses expectations for the coming season.

Today’s focal point: Forward Henrik Zetterberg.

Looking at 2014-15 production: 17 goals, 49 assists, 66 points in 77 games; three assists in seven playoff games.

Looking at money: Signed through 2020-21 with an annual salary cap hit of $6.1 million. Actual salary next season is $7.5 million.

Looking back: The best aspect of Zetterberg’s 2014-15 was that there were no after-effects from the back problems and eventual surgery that derailed him the previous season.
