TAYLOR - Detroit Red Wings defenseman Mike Green hasn't started practicing with the team but is skating on his own and hopes to return during the road trip to California next week.
"Hoping, yeah," Green said Wednesday. "Probably the latter part of the trip, but around there."
The latter part of the three-game trip would be Jan. 7 in San Jose.
"I'm still able to skate, stay in shape," Green said. "I'm going to continue to do that and do the off-ice stuff as much as I can."
Green suffered an upper-body injury on a hit from Anaheim's Ryan Kesler in the final minute of the Red Wings' 6-4 victory on Dec.
