The Detroit Red Wings announced today that they have re-signed defenseman Marc Staal to a one year deal for $2,000,000. The 34 year old Staal will be playing his 16th season in the NHL and second with Detroit.
Staal started his career after being drafted 12 overall in the first round by the New York Rangers in the 2005 draft. He continued playing junior for the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL for two years after and remained captain of the Wolves until he turned professional in 2007-08.
