DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings apparently believe it's better for Michael Rasmussen's development to endure growing pains in the NHL than to dominate again at the junior level.
Coach Jeff Blashill indicated Tuesday that the organization will continue evaluating Rasmussen in Detroit, even if it means having him play 10 or more games and burning a year off his entry-level contract.
"We'll take probably a long-term look at that," Blashill said. "We don't necessarily have to decide by the 10th game. Our feel is we'd like to continue to take a long-term development look at that.
