HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Veteran defenseman Jakub Kindl cleared waivers today.
According to published reports, the Red Wings need to make another roster move before they can activate defenseman Kyle Quincey.
The Wings waived Kindl on Saturday in hopes of clearing enough space under the salary cap to trigger Quincey’s return. Kindl wasn’t claimed by the 12 p.m. EDT deadline today, which means he can now be assigned to the club’s American Hockey League affiliate in Grand Rapids.
However, sending Kindl down only clears $950,000 of his $2.
