Red Wings' high picks add buzz to NHL Prospects Tournament

The NHL Prospects Tournament usually provides glimpses of several players who'll be Detroit Red Wings down the road - a few years into the future.

This year's event is highlighted by a couple of players who could be in the Red Wings' lineup when they open the regular season Oct. 4.

That's the product of drafting high the past coupe of years, being able to land forwards Michael Rasmussen (ninth overall in 2017) and Filip Zadina (sixth in 2018) who appear to be on the fast track to the NHL.

Their presence at Centre I.C.E. in Traverse City is sure to create more buzz than usual at an eight-team tournament that is the biggest and oldest of its kind and widely regarded as the best.
