Luke Glendening spent his day encouraging the next generation of hockey players to enjoy camp -- and to go musical.
Glendening was part of the instruction staff on the second day of camps for kids at Joe Louis Arena, taking turns leading with Detroit Red Wings teammates Riley Sheahan and Danny DeKeyser, under the guidance of four-time Stanley Cup champion and team scout Kirk Maltby.
Glendening had a huge fan in former Wings coach Mike Babcock, but there's familiarity with the new boss, too, as Glendening played for Jeff Blashill in Grand Rapids.
The Wings are about a month out from training camp in Traverse City, where the forward field is expected to be competitive, thanks to a fresh addition in free agent Brad Richards and with Teemu Pulkkinen out of waiver eligibility.
