At Noon today, the NHL's new year officially starts. Rosters are reset and all contracts that had been set to expire are now officially off the books. It's the beginning of the NHL's free agency period where teams may sign any unrestricted free agents to deals or restricted free agents to offer sheets. It's also a time for arbitration elections and for the $71.4M salary cap to become official.
So what can we expect? Well we can expect a bunch of people to get paid more money and term than they should be, same as every year. What we might be able to see this year which has a lot of people excited is a run of offer sheets.
