DETROIT - Plenty of eyeballs will be focused on Detroit when the Red Wings open Little Caesars Arena.
Detroit's first home game against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday, Oct. 5 will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network beginning at 7:30 p.m. The national TV audience means hockey fans throughout North America will get a look at the new, state-of-the-art arena.
The 2017-18 season will be the first played outside of Joe Louis Arena since the 1978 season. NNC shared a photo of the announcement on its Facebook page with the caption "The dawn of a new era.
