DETROIT – Two Detroit Red Wings went down with apparent knee injuries less than five minutes apart during the second period of Saturday's game against the Montreal Canadiens at Joe Louis Arena.
Both are out for the remainder of the game, the club announced.
First, defenseman Brendan Smith went to the dressing room with 8:01 left in the second. Smith appeared to be in a great amount of pain after a knee-on –knee collision with Montreal's Tomas Plekanec along the boards to the left of Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek.
