Defenseman Dan Renouf was one of three players assigned Monday by the Detroit Red Wings to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Renouf, who played 67 games with the Griffins last season, was joined by forward Zach Nastasiuk and goalie Matei Machovsky.
The Red Wings also released six other players from their professional tryouts and they will return to the Griffins. They are forwards Mike Borkowski, Luke Esposito and Dominik Shine, defensemen Patrick McCarron and Kevin Tansey and goalie Pat Nagle.
