DETROIT - Joe Veleno gave the Detroit Red Wings a glimpse of what to expect in the future, and the club was impressed.
But for now, Veleno will continue to hone his skills in juniors. The Red Wings on Monday reassigned Veleno, 18, to Drummondville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Veleno, the Red Wings' second pick in this year's draft (30th overall), had no goals and two assists in three preseason games. He led the team in scoring (two goals, five assists) during the Prospects Tournament.
Veleno, a two-way center, collected 16 goals and 32 assists in 33 regular season games for Drummondville last season and added five goals and six assists in 11 playoff games.
