DETROIT -- The Red Wings have assigned 2015 1st round pick Evgeny Svechnikov to his junior team in Cape Breton.
After an impressive outing during the prospects tournament, and main camp, the newest Russian Red Wing is on his way back to his junior team, cutting the roster down to 56 players. Svechnikov posted 78 points in 56 games in his rookie QMJHL campaign, and looks to be an impact player for Cape Breton yet again in 2015-2016.
Personally, I would have liked to see Geno in a couple more preseason games, as I feel he has all the tools to be a pro hockey player right now, but the Red Wings are certainly in no rush with him.
