DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings will be missing some size and scoring punch for a while, after Anthony Mantha broke his hand while delivering a punch.
The club said today that Mantha will be out four-to-six weeks the injury, which was suffered in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche at Little Caesars Arena, when Mantha struck Patrik Nemeth's helmet in a fight early in the third period.
Mantha initiated the fight in response to Nemeth's hit on Dylan Larkin in the corner seconds early.
Coach Jeff Blashill said Mantha will have surgery this afternoon.
