TRAVERSE CITY — Andreas Athanasiou is convinced if he plays consistent minutes, he’ll deliver goals. A familiar linemate could help make that happen.
A year after he missed training camp because of a contract holdout, Athanasiou is a central part of the Detroit Red Wings’ attempt to stage a competitive 2018-19 season. With Henrik Zetterberg no longer able to play because of a degenerative back injury, Athanasiou is one of the leading players who could see his role expand as a result.
