Detroit will play nine pre-season games this coming season, including a game against the defending champion St. Louis Blues as part of Kraft Hockeyville. That game will take place in Calumet, Michigan, the town that won the NHL’s annual contest.
The Wings will also play home-and-home games against Chicago and Toronto to begin and end their pre-season schedule, respectively. Following the games against the Blackhawks, Detroit will take on Pittsburgh and the Islanders at home, before playing each of those two teams in their barns.
Detroit’s nine games will take place over 11 days starting on September 17, so there will be plenty of Red Wings action after the long layoff.
