DETROIT - It is difficult to envision, in today's salary-capped NHL, a club like the 1997 Detroit Red Wings.
They had skill, speed, size, grit, toughness. They boasted depth of scoring, a strong defense and two All-Star caliber goaltenders - all under the guidance of the winningest coach in league history.
"When you look at the players we had on that team, we had pretty much everything you need," Scotty Bowman recalled on Tuesday.
"You look at the players that are in the Hall of Fame ... having that many on a team, it's hard to believe.
