Commissioner Gary Bettman today upheld the 10-game suspension that was assessed to Anaheim Ducks forward Antoine Vermette for violating Rule 40.3 (Physical Abuse of Officials) during NHL Game No. 840 in Minnesota on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Reports indicated (not in this article) that the NHL and NHLPA had agreed on reducing the suspension to 5 games, but the officials association fought it, as well they should have.
The most interesting part of this story is coming from Nick Kypreos, so first go take a container of salt and dump it on your computer before reading:
“The thought is that Sheahan is having a miserable year,” Kypreos added, noting that the 25-year-old centreman has no goals and sits at minus-19 through 58 games.
