You always deal with people who have a misconception of what it is, there’s not going to be drug addicts running around, there will be security, it will be safe, it will be beautiful,’’ Daniels said. “Rather than be in the system which is going to cost more money in jails, that’s not the answer. That’s why there’s programs like Hope Not Handcuffs. It’s not the answer to throw people in prison. Long-term it’s going to cost the state more money. We need safe, long-term, affordable housing. The majority of the money we raise will go to that facility.
