GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday signed center Dominic Turgeon to a one-year contract extension.
Turgeon, 24, tied for the AHL lead by playing in all 63 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins last season. He tied for fifth on Grand Rapids with 10 goals while contributing 23 points, a team-high two shorthanded goals, and a plus-seven rating that ranked second on the team. A renowned penalty killer, the 6-foot-2, 203-pound Turgeon incurred only four penalty minutes in 2019-20, matching the fewest ever in one season for a Griffin who appeared in at least 62 games (Axel Holmstrom, four PIM in 66 games in 2017-18).
