Mike Ribeiro wanted out of Nashville and it looks like he finally got his wish. Although the 36-year-old veteran center would have preferred to be traded to a team of his choosing, he instead was placed on waivers Friday morning.
There were reports that Ribeiro requested a trade back to the team that drafted him in 1998, the Montreal Canadiens. Instead of going back to Montreal, Ribeiro will now be at the mercy of the waiver-wire. It’s hard to imagine which team and GM would take a chance on the historically troubled Ribeiro.
In Red Wings Land
The Red Wings placed defenceman Alexey Marchenko on waivers as well on Friday morning.
