Jimmy Howard was outstanding again, but his teammates continue having trouble scoring.

The Red Wings outplayed the Jets in the first period but were on their heels for most of the second and third and took too many penalties.

They gleaned some positives but still have the worst record in the NHL at 1-7-2.

"The results don't show it. That can be frustrating," Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. "We did tons of stuff that will lead to longer-term success, especially in the O-zone. I thought we checked better.
