Eight teams comprised of NHL prospects will gather in Traverse City this week for the 19th Detroit Red Wings prospects tournament at Centre Ice Arena. Players representing the Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues will be competing for the Matthew Wuest Memorial Cup beginning Friday.
Jiri Fischer, the Red Wings director player evaluation, has called it "the hardest and best amateur tournament in the world."
Teams will play three games within their respective divisions before the championship game and crossover games are held Sept.
