There's one young forward, in particular, whom a Detroit Red Wings insider judges to be ready for a breakout season.
The Wings are less than two weeks from starting training camp and further distancing themselves from the disappointment that was the 2015-16 season. Many players could stand to redeem themselves after underachieving, and Chris Osgood sees Riley Sheahan as more than capable of doing so as he heads into his third full NHL season.
“I think Riley Sheahan -- and I love Riley Sheahan, so I'm not saying that he had a bad year, but I know his potential,” Osgood told the Free Press this week, as part of his induction into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.
