DETROIT - When Jimmy Howard can stand upright and watch the action at the other end of the ice much of the night, the Detroit Red Wings must be doing it right.
The Red Wings have won three in a row following a 1-7-2 start, and one contributing factor is they're spending more time in the offensive zone, controlling the puck and generating scoring opportunities.
The Red Wings scored two power-play goals and a pair of shorthanded tallies in Thursday's 4-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils at Little Caesars Arena.
"I think we've started to build a bit of an identity in the O-zone where we've done a good job of grinding teams out," Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said.
