NHL Draft: Detroit Red Wings Select Michael Rasmussen

After much anticipation, the Red Wings selected a center. Rasmussen was ranked the fifth best North American skater by NHL Central Scouting entering Friday night’s draft and third among pure centers.

The 18-year-old spent the 2016-17 season in the Western Hockey League playing for the Tri-City Americans. In 50 appearances, he produced 55 points with 33 goals and 22 assists. Additionally, the Canadian native played the 2015-16 with the Americans as well, putting up 43 points in 63 appearances.

At 6’5″, Rasmussen is a big player and uses his body to create chances.
