Good news for the Detroit Red Wings on the fiscal front.
The parameters of the 2016-17 NHL salary cap range are out, and there's a floor of $54 million and a ceiling of $73 million. Both numbers should benefit the Wings.
The higher number helps because it allows for more maneuverability for a team with an owner willing to spend. As it stands now, the Wings have a little more than $60 million in salary cap commitments for the coming season -- or about $12 million in spending power.
