LOS ANGELES – The Red Wings learned Monday afternoon that they will be without penalty-killing specialist Drew Miller for a while.
Miller, who suffered a lower-body injury in the third period of Sunday’s 2-1 win at Anaheim, was placed on long-term injured reserve Monday.
He must sit out a minimum of 24 days and 10 games before he can return to the club’s lineup. Miller had just returned two games ago from missing 14 games after he suffered a fractured lower jaw on Dec. 3.
The roster move allows the Wings relief under the salary cap to activate defenseman Kyle Quincey, who is expected to play against the Los Angeles Kings tonight at Staples Center.
