A couple readers have e-mailed to ask about Andreas Athanasiou’s future with the Detroit Red Wings.
Specifically, they wanted to how his new contract affects his trade value.
The Wings re-signed Athanasiou on July 5 for two years with a $3 million salary cap hit. Athanasiou, 23, had 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points in 71 games in 2017-18. He missed the first 10 games because of a contract dispute and missed one game in February because of illness.
Athanasiou scored 18 goals (among 29 points) in 64 games in 2016-17. It's safe to say that over a full season, he’ll be a 20-goal scorer, at least.
