Detroit — Dylan Larkin made an impact his first game of the preseason.
Larkin won a faceoff in overtime, sprinted down the ice, and fed Madison Bowey for the winner at 2 minutes, 59 seconds, giving the Red Wings a 3-2 win over Pittsburgh.
It was Larkin's first game action after having missed time due to a nagging foot injury.
Tyler Bertuzzi and Anthony Mantha also scored for the Wings. Goaltender Jonathan Bernier stopped 32 shots.
Brian Dumoulin and Jared McCann (power play) had goals for the Penguins.
