Protesters who were arrested during the fifth consecutive night of protests Tuesday were taken to Little Caesars Arena before going to the Detroit Detention Center.
Detroit Police Chief James Craig said at Wednesday's news conference the arena was used as a processing point for the 127 people arrested during Tuesday's protest against police brutality. Protesters had previously been taken to another DPD substation for processing, Craig said, but the facility was too small.
Craig said he is unsure if the police will use the facility for similar purposes again, but instead hopes to decrease the number of people arrested and have more peaceful protests.
