The Red Wings announced yesterday that forward Landon Ferraro had been placed on waivers, indicating he was about to be medically cleared after his knee injury. Today we learned that he was claimed by Atlantic Division rival Boston.
It was expected that a waiver-eligible forward would be hitting the wire with Ferraro set to return, since sending waiver-exempt Alexey Marchenko down would give the team only six healthy defensemen. It seemed like the two most likely to be waived were Ferraro and Joakim Andersson, but still a number of Red Wings fans were surprised at the news Saturday of Ferraro going on waivers.
