Krupa: Larkin's impact affirmed by Blashill's bold move

Detroit – The Red Wings were on the penalty kill, early in the game Friday at Joe Louis Arena, and they had the Maple Leafs bottled up in their own zone.

They even generated a couple of chances.

It was reminiscent of the days when the Wings penalty killers were so skilled that players such as Steve Yzerman or Sergei Fedorov, paired with Kris Draper or Kirk Maltby, could control the man-advantage situation to the point the team with the extra attacker had to play defense in front of their goalie.

Among the penalty killers this time was the 19-year-old Dylan Larkin.
