Detroit — It understates things to say that in his 12th season, Niklas Kronwall is not off to his best start. But he and coach Jeff Blashill think things have turned.
And that would certainly help the Red Wings stay more comfortably in playoff position.
Kronwall, despite an October and early November he seems happy to see behind him, remains critical to the club.
His leadership is essential and his play, despite some admitted deficiencies, still provides defensive and offensive skills the Wings have difficulty duplicating.
His place in the history of the club is perhaps less noted.
