Detroit finally beat Boston again on Wednesday night after overcoming two one-goal deficits. There were some good options for Key Play Breakdown on this one:
- Danny DeKeyser trying a cross-ice pass out of his own zone and hitting a forechecker’s skate instead (later absolved of blame by Mickey Redmond as a “bad break” on FS-D), followed by weak net-front coverage on Boston’s 2nd goal was a candidate.
- Gustav Nyquist chugging up ice and making a good shot selection knowing he’s basically got a 2-on-1 and the defender has given him too much room to shoot leading to Athanasiou’s first goal was another good candidate.
