DETROIT - It would be difficult to top the way Scotty Bowman said farewell to Joe Louis Arena in 2002.
The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-1 in Game 5 to win their third Stanley Cup in six seasons. Bowman, the NHL's all-time winningest coach, announced his retirement on the ice and then put on his skates to take a lap around the rink while hoisting the Cup, his ninth as a coach.
