NEW YORK -- Jimmy Howard turned in a starring performance to rescue his Detroit Red Wings teammates Wednesday night.
The Wings played carelessly against a fast opponent, but Howard was the reason the Wings came away with two points as he made 32 saves in a 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
“I thought Jimmy stole the game,” Wings coach Jeff Blashill said. “Honestly, that’s one of the better performances I’ve seen from a goalie, really probably at any level.
