For all the ways the Detroit Red Wings have disappointed this season, they find ways to make it worse.
Their outing Thursday at Little Caesars was atrocious. They started poorly. Jimmy Howard was pulled. The skaters couldn’t get out of their zone. This night it was the Minnesota Wild who took advantage with a 7-1 rout.
The Wings (15-47-4) have lost four in a row by a combined score of 19-5.
The first period was one of the Wings’ worst of the season, which is really saying something. Anthony Mantha injected a modicum of momentum into the second period when he scored on a breakaway, but in typical Wings fashion, they promptly gave it back.
