ST. PAUL, Minn. - Gustav Nyquist said hitting Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon in the face with his stick Sunday was accidental and both coach Jeff Blashill and teammate Henrik Zetterberg believe that to be the truth.
Nyquist was assessed a double-minor penalty for high sticking Spurgeon, who crashed to the ice and was cut above his lip on the left side of his face.
Nyquist could be facing disciplinary action from the NHL for the incident.
